The North American Coastal Plain, encompassing the majority of Southeastern U.S. states, was recently ranked a global diversity hotspot, and yet much of its diversity remains unknown or recognizably lost (CEPF 2016). Plant enthusiasts from across the region continue to pursue documentation and conservation efforts so that loss of native habitats and endemic flora is halted.
